Pakistan vs Sri Lanka Highlights Final

Pakistan : The Cinderella man story

Just like James J Braddock, The Cinderella Man, no one gave Pakistan a chance of winning this World Cup. Reason being Pakistan had not played much cricket in the last 2 years, the 2 years when Twenty20 really took off. Pakistan’s players did not participate in the second edition of IPL as well, hence they were short on Twenty20 experience! Every player in Pakistan and India essentially grows up on Twenty20 cricket, as a batsman you just hit sixes and as a bowler you prevent the sixes, plain and simple. No one worried about Pakistan, no one knew Pakistan and hence they won, just like James J Braddock, The Cinderella Man.

Pakistan gets something finally

Pakistan as a country has been torn down in the last few years. With Taliban taking over a large part, terrorism getting rampant and even affecting cricket the country and its people needed something, and now they have something. A World Cup trophy!

I hope this revives cricket in Pakistan which has been affected a great deal by terrorism and ICL. Razzaq is already back with more to follow, Pakistan team will soon be back to its full strength and with the confidence of winning a World Cup behind them they can scale new hights.

Afridi booms again!

Big final of a big tournament, Pakistan is the biggest underdogs of the tournament, and Afridi’s batting form is also worse. But what does he do in the semi final and the final. Just simply play 2 match winning knocks.

54 runs from 40 balls chasing a low total is worth its weight in gold! Afridi has been sent on earth to play Twenty20. Two consecutive man of the series awards in the world cups! Amazing feat.
